Artist Lofts & Gallery
Reuse of existing structure in Columbus, IN. The former furniture factory is converted into an artist community with gallery space, a cafe, supply shop, and live/work studios and apartments for local artists. Much of the original timber-frame construction and brick exterior was retained and highlighted. Muted finishes and wood tones recall original use of building and allow artist creations to stand out.

Columbus Health Education Center

Reuse and expansion of existing Paul Kennon bank structure in Columbus, IN. Students worked with Columbus Regional Hospital staff to develop concepts for a health-centric facility. We envisioned the Health Education center as a place where members of the community could take cooking, nutrition, and gardening classes and have a link to other health facilities.
Hawkins Apartments/Refugee Apartment
Historic third floor Oddfellow lounge converted into two components; a flexible entertaining space for a well-connected Columbus family, and apartment housing for refugees. The Hawkins apartment utilizes flexible furniture and minimal architecture to allow for multi-use space. The refugee apartment features large communal spaces paired with smaller private rooms.
